Grove Park
Grove Park, funded by City of Atlanta’s $14 million Environmental Impact Bond (EIB), implements green infrastructure projects in the Proctor Creek Watershed to reduce flooding, increase runoff capacity, and provide social, environmental, and health benefits to the community. The park aims to reduce annual runoff by 3 million gallons through the use of native plants, bioengineered soils, and infiltration techniques that enhance both beautification and environmental education.
The project includes over 2,600 semi-aquatic shrubs, herbaceous perennials, and grasses. A bosque of Paw Paw trees increases local biodiversity while serving as a food source for mammals like raccoons and squirrels. Beneath the landscape, a 36-inch profile of high C33 sand content engineered soils supports a network of air-spade columns drilled 30 inches into the subgrade and backfilled with washed drainage stone to promote effective water infiltration.
